Guinea pig Joy

LilyBelle is the first guinea pig I’ve ever owned though, as an animal lover, I’ve had many pets: dogs, fish, a rabbit and pygmy goats. I simply love God’s creatures!

LilyBelle is not a typically docile piggy. Quoting Shakespeare: “Though she be but little, she is fierce!” And she has absolutely no fear of our dog.

But she likes to be held, snuggling herself in the crook of my arm, making her little piggy noises. She provides all kinds of entertainment with her squeals for food and crazy antics and running in circles.

When I picked her out, I had no idea what I was getting. There was no piggy personality profile. No background information. We didn’t even know how old she was.

Yet over the months, we learned about her. We understood what made her happy and what made her nervous. We established bonds and routines and a diet. And now, her little corner of the kitchen is a very happy place. We give her treats and talk to her throughout the day. We’ve incorporated this little creature into our lives.

I think I need to incorporate more of Jesus into my life. We walk into the Christian faith with lots of questions. We don’t necessarily understand everything about faith. We’re afraid we might be inadequate as a follower.

That’s why it’s so important to incorporate Jesus into our lives, so that we get to know Him on a deeper level. We establish meaningful routines: reading His Word for understanding, praying as a way to connect with Him, listening as He guides, repenting as we understand our sin.

Jesus is always there - in every room of the house, every mile on the road, every day at the office. We need to intentionally recognize Him. Stop to appreciate and thank Him for His good gifts throughout the day. Prayerfully seek His guidance in our decision-making.

Life with Jesus is full! When we incorporate Him into our lives, we better navigate our challenges, questions, all the ups and downs - and manage the difficult with joy. With Jesus by our side, life is whole, abundant, satisfying.

Remember, He’s always right where you are, ready to help. Incorporate Him into your day!

By the way, LilyBelle says hi…or maybe she's just squealing for a carrot!

Today is a GOOD day,

Natalie
