the dawn
Every morning I get up early and make my way from the house to the studio, ready for coffee. Dune pads softly behind me knowing his breakfast is soon to come.
It’s dark on the sidewalk path between the buildings, but just on the other side, behind the woods, the sun is beginning its ascent.
Entering the studio, I walk back to the kitchen, raising the window’s blind. I look out as the first brilliant rays filter through the trees.
As dawn unfolds, the trees on the wooded lot turn black as the light blazes through. You would never imagine their variations of green and brown, for they are black as night against the sun.
I sip my coffee and reflect on the wondrous beauty of a sunrise.
It’s my favorite part of the morning.
Light has a way of doing this - its brilliance surpassing all else.
I think this is the way Jesus would like our lives to be - the brilliance of His love and compassion and kindness should outshine the creeping darkness of the world.
Nothing can extinguish the bright rays of sun at dawn. No matter how dark the darkness, it is always exposed by the light. The light always prevails.
Jesus is this Light.
What joy! The Son shines His light on us and then through us. Oh the peace we should feel in the warmth of His radiance…
And our commission: to share the true Light with the world.
How could we ever keep the Light to ourselves when the whole dark world is waiting for the dawn?
In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:4-5 NIV
Today is a GOOD day!
